Description

This presentation was recorded at GOTO Copenhagen 2017 http://gotocph.com Dan North - Originator of Behavior Driven Development (BDD) & Principal Consultant ABSTRACT When I started in IT the roles were clearly separated. Business Analysts wrote requirements, Architects designed them, Programmers wrote the code, Testers tested the software. Over the last decade or so we have seen a shift towards “generalising specialists” who can cut code, understand a business domain, design a user interface, participate in and automate some of the testing and deployment activities […] Download slides and read the full abstract here: https://gotocph.com/2017/sessions/187https://twitter.com/gotocphhttps://www.facebook.com/GOTOConferencehttp://gotocon.com

Jeremy Anderson | I can’t get enough of Dan North, he is a fantastic thinker. 28:00 and five minutes on either side is truly golden. 1 year ago (edited)

Frank Staheli | Several excellent insights. Here are just a few. “Stakeholders are people whose lives you touch.” If you write software for a bank, learn how a bank works. If you work for a store, shop in that store. To understand what program you’re writing, see if you can write the “Read Me” instructions and the FAQs first. If it changes every time you do it, don’t automate it. If doing it becomes boring, DO automate it. 1 year ago (edited)

Kevin Beal | Ironically, when you make white guys the only people who can be made to look bad, they become the most human and relatable. Making women and minorities holy takes away their humanity. You must relate to what they represent, not to they themselves. “I must hire this woman in the name of Justice” It’s a luxury to be able to think this way. Most of us just want to get work done and food on the table. 1 month ago
