Quote: cultures come together around a common set of values and belief Cultures are groups of people who come together around a common set of values and beliefs. (src: Book_ Start With Why - Simon Sinek p88 )
Well, you see. I see myself as someone who <why>. And so it's very important for me to surround myself with all the people and the products and the brands to prove to the outside world who I am. Because I am using these things to tell people who I am. In an attempt to attract people who believe what I believe. So that I can start to form strong bonds of trust....
only when individuals can trust the culture or organisation will they take personal risks in order to advance that culture or organisation as a whole. For no other reason than, in the end, it's good for their own personal health and survival. (Book_ Start With Why - Simon Sinek p104)
Current generation living through things like Brexit Trump ??? immigrants And I’m interested in how these attitudes will shape them. I think this young generation is going to become a very accepting generation. What I love about millennials is that they are a much more accepting generation than older generations. Whether it is sexuality or gender identity It's a big nothing. "Whatever you wanna do" I think this younger generation is gonna be even more accepting and inclusive of people who are not like them, than previous generations (src: [[video-simon-sinek-in-conversation-with-reggie-yates....
A why is fully formed by the time we are in our late teens, and it does not change for the rest of our lives... (continued 29:14) (src: Video_ Simon Sinek in conversation with Reggie Yates)
You should know the answer to: What are you willing to die for? What are you willing to get fired for? What are you willing to fail for? What are you willing to be humiliated for? Great leaders can answer that question. And if the answer is “nothing” that is a problem. (src: Video_ Leadership through Inspiration - Simon Sinek)
we don't have to put pressure on ourselves to be visionary there is a very small handful of people in our population who are visionary eg. Steve Jobs, Richard Branson We don't have to have a vision, we have to find a vision If there is someone else's vision that gives us goosebumps If there is someone else's vision that we say "that's the world I want to live in" Martin Luther's "I have a dream" If you want to live in that world, choose his And devote your life and devote your career to helping build that vision in some way shape or form, even if it's only small steps
the reason we call it vision is because you have to be able to see it imagine a world that is different to the world we have now that you believe that if everything you did in your organisation went perfectly, you would contribute to the building of that world (src: Video_ The Infinite Game_ How to Lead in the 21st Century - Simon Sinek)
Everyone knows what we do. I can tell you what I do. You can tell me what you do. Some of us know how we do it The things that make us stand out or distinguish us from our competition. But very few people can clearly articulate why they do what they do. That purpose, cause or belief that underlies our work when we are passionate.
